Our Yeast

If you will try this riser
You’ll find out, in a day,
That you’re a little wiser
Than when it came your way.

New Post Toastie Flakes  April 5, 1919

She sat by the fireplace half awake
Eating the new Post Toastie flakes,
And said in a dreamy sort of way
I’m glad Post Toasties come to stay,
For they are the dearest kind of flake
Bringing sweet dreams when I’m half awake;
My checks grow rosier every day,
And mother is glad, I heard her say,
“Just see how that child is growing fat
Since I found out where the trouble was at.”
She knew what was best for me to eat,
And that’s why she gave me the Toasties sweet;
Now all of you kiddies who are still so thin
Wake up, and tell momma the troubles within,
Just coax your momma for Post Toasties new,
It’s the very best medicine made for you.

Dwarfies February 7, 1930

Our Johnny is moody and oft has the blues
And I just read of Dwarfies today in the news,
I’m sure ‘twould help Johnny and set him up right
I’ll go to the grocer, and buy it tonight.

Untitled

Oh never again will I go
In debt for a chair, or a rug
But I’ll take all the pennies I get
And salt them right down in a jug;
And when the jug’s full and ready to bust
I’ll spend them for furniture, then, if I must.
